FAQ

Is it painful?

No it is not  painful with the IPL technology (electronically controlled flash) E-Swin patented that has been developed for skin treatments since 2007 in France.

How many treatments do I need?

For optimum results, patients will need 3 treatments.
The first at Day 1, the second at Day 10 and the third at Day 30, the effects of the E>Eye being cumulative.

What is the delay between flashes?

About 3 to 4 seconds.

Can everybody have an E>Eye IPL treatment?

The E>Eye IPL treatment is suitable for skin phototype I (very fair skin colour) to V (dark skin colour), the only skin phototype that is not suitable is the phototype VI (black skin colour).

There are a few contra indications such as:

  • not flashing birthmarks
  • not flashing moles or raised skin pigmentation
  • not flashing tattoos, permanent make-up or any pigmented area
  • not flashing on fake tan
  • not flashing directly the eyes (they must be protected by opaque safery glasses)

I have very severe dry eye issues, is it going to work for me?

Yes it is, the E>Eye has been proven to be efficient on level 0 to 4 on the Oxford classification of the eye dryness. (4 being the most severe case of dry eye). Note that the E>Eye only treats the evaporative form of Meibomian gland dysfunction.

Is there any risk of cancer flashing the skin with IPL?

No there isn't, the light of an IPL won't cause any DNA denaturation as it is filtered between 580nm to 1200nm which is way above the dangerous limits. (UV are filtered as well)
IPL technology has been widely used over the past 20 years in the cosmetic industry, plus the IPL flash strength used for the E>Eye isn't half powerful as a pigmentation treatment to give an example.

Is the E-Eye technology suitable for pregnant women?

No. The professional sector considers the technology unsuitable for pregnant women and France Medical advises the same.

Would the use of the E-Eye be user friendly whilst breastfeeding?

Yes, it is fine.

Is there any risk of hyperpigmentation after an E>Eye IPL treatment?

No risk of hyperpigmentation. In the worst case scenario you will get some redness that will disappear within 24 to 48 hours.

Which parts will eventually need to be replaced? (besides the optic cartridge)

Besides the optical cartridge (which is designed to last 1,000 flashes), nothing else should need to be replaced unless a part has been damaged or broken. The E-Eye alike all technology needs to be handled carefully. The E-Eye has been built to a high standard and no parts are expected to fail should the E-Eye be used cautiously, according to the user manual and training program offered by France Medical.

Do I need a particular training?

Yes you do, France Medical staff will train you and your staff directly in your practice.
